Ukraine’s military survival depends on military aid from the US, the UK and EU

The foreign secret services of two of America’s closest allies considered the 45th president of the United States such a liability that they didn’t want to share their secrets with the Central Intelligence Agency . Now thatthat the Republican Party leader behaved like he was taking orders from the Kremlin when he was last in office – as well as after.

But intelligence sharing has been key, with the UK, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand sharing most of their secrets through the “Five Eyes” system. However, two foreign intelligence agencies told me during the last Trump administration that Five Eyes almost fell apart. “Any deal – the worst deal – would’ve been better than what we have now,” Trump said in September. “If they made a bad deal it would’ve been much better. They would’ve given up a little bit and everybody would be living and every building would be built and every tower would be ageing for another 2,000 years.

But Britain and her allies in Europe should make sure it doesn’t happen. If Putin prevailed after invading Russia then Nato members in the Baltic states, even Poland, could be next. And that would, or should, trigger the automatic involvement of Nato in a war with Russia – which could go nuclear.
