Will DK Metcalf be a Seattle Seahawk beyond 2025?
DK Metcalf has been a polarizing player for the Seattle Seahawks. Drafted in the second round back in 2019, Metcalf quickly became an exciting deep threat with the type of elite speed that shouldn’t exist for someone his size. Since entering the league, Metcalf ranks 16th in total receptions , 10th in receiving yards , and 5th in receiving touchdowns among all wide receivers.
DK’s contract is up at the end of 2025, and we’re in an era where wide receivers are getting dealt every offseason in lieu of a contract extension. NFL analyst Doug Farrar recently opined that teams don’t really need No. 1 receivers anymore, which I respect as an opinion but don’t really agree with. If Metcalf gets extended, it could be north of $30 million/year with the expectation that he’ll be a No. 1 option or at least 1a/1b with Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
