. “Especially when paired with a low-commitment, barely-there fringe,” he adds.
“The haircut goes from jaw-length, with some pieces hitting the lip and it's probably about as low-maintenance as you can get. A tiny bit of a cream or mousse, air dry it and tuck it around your ears, and you’re set,” says Nick.It's great news if you're in the process of growing a French-girl bob out, because it turns out you're transitional cut is bang on trend, or if you want to go short – just notshort, it's an entry level way of nodding to that Frenchie shape.
“As always we’d start by cutting the bottom chunk of the hair. We'd start this haircut from the back and look to find a good guide length that sit really nicely around the neck. As I’m taking the clips out, I’m looking at exactly how i’s sitting, exactly how it’s framing the face and bone structure and building from there,” he says.
“This haircut is a combination of using scissors and also using the razor for softness. Scissors are what’s going to get the structure through the base – you want a really nice graduation – then cutting the hair with the razor maximises the volume. It builds the movement,” says Nick.As for the fringe, a swooshy, wispy fringe that can be tucked sideways, like curtain bangs, makes everything more versatile.
"The difference when we cut bobs is that it doesn’t stop with the fringe and the outline. We really do keep cutting into the hair really softly, removing any excess weight or bulk and making sure that the hair really flows. I like to pick up pieces up and add really subtle layers,” Nick says. “And I’ll keep doing this until I’m happy with how all of the hair is sitting and once there’s enough movement throughout the hair.”Even better, there's some cute options when it comes to styling.
