Councillors in Market Drayton will meet this week to agree a date for the town's popular Festival of Lights event this year.For most, Christmas will have been pushed to the back of their minds, however, the planning for this year's festivities begins this week for councillors in theCouncillors will vote on whether they agree to hold the Festival of Lights on Saturday, November 15 and consider a quote for the provision and erection of stalls at the event.

Civic leaders praised a successful Festival of Lights last November where visitor numbers were boosted by free parking, that was subsidised by the town's council.during the event as hundreds watched watched Mayor Roy Aldcroft and Elspeth Talbot, 16, from the Grove School switch the town's Christmas lights on - some of which were new for last year's display.

Deputy Mayor and Chair of the Services and Facilities committee, Tim Manton said:"The event is a highlight of the yearly calendar and immensely well attended."
