Not just a summer destination

A loud and clear HONK! HONK! claxon sounds out to signal the Fleetwood to Knott-End-on-Sea ferry is about to depart from the other side of the Wyre estuary. It's so close, you can see the little red and white passenger vessel from the shore at Knott End, the whole journey less than five-minutes long, but a novel little experience, all the same.

A wander or brisk stroll along the the Prince Phillip Riverside Walk, dedicated to the memory of the late royal, is more likely to require a bobble hat and gloves over a vest top and sunglasses in November and December, but on a blue-sky day, it's refreshing and pleasant and although it may be masquerading as a sharp sea breeze, it certainly feels like the real thing on your cheeks.
