Princess Eugenie made the powerful decision to show her scar from undergoing major spinal surgery as a child in her statement wedding day look.
She had two 12-inch titanium rods placed in her back in an operation that took eight hours, leaving her in intensive care for the days. The elegant royal then followed in the footsteps of cousin Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who got married in May the same year, as she tied the knot at Windsor Castle in front of hundreds of friends and family - and thousands of royal fans.
The dress featured a v-shaped back which showed the scar from the life-changing spinal surgery - a design feature the princess specifically requested. Speaking about showing off her scars as she hinted at her wedding dress design, Eugenie told Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes she thought it was important to "show off your scars."
