It's featured in The Good Beer Guide for the 25th consecutive year
A historic pub which sits on the edge of Rivington Pike and the picturesque West Pennine Moors is celebrating its 25th year of being included in The Good Beer Guide. The Crown in Horwich has been consistently recognised by the UK’s bestselling guide, published by CAMRA .
Managed by Beverley and Gary Parker, The Crown has featured in the guide for a quarter of a century. The married couple moved into the pub in 1998, however, it didn’t qualify for the guide as the rules state the venue must be managed by landlords for at least 12 months.READ MORE: The south Manchester kebab shop adored by locals that keeps customers waiting five months for food
“We really are proud of what we have achieved – and which we can only do with the help of our loyal and hardworking staff. We offer a warm welcome to everyone – no one ever feels lonely here.” It has a long history; the original Crown Hotel was created in 1786 and was believed to have been a staging post on Turnpike Road. It was rebuilt in 1886 with the arrival of the Railway Works and in 2017 the pub was awarded a civic plaque by Horwich Town Council as recognition for operating as a pub for over 230 years.
