In a resurfaced article, a rare insight into the Queen’s cultural taste has been revealed, and it turns out she would much prefer to watch Twin Peaks than a Sir Paul McCartney show put on especially for her birthday.
Twin Peaks composer Angelo Badalamenti was interviewed by the outlet and, in 2011, shared a story told to him by McCartney, which saw the Queen decide to watch David Lynch TV show on her birthday – instead of a private birthday gig with the Beatles star.
‘And when he met her, he started to say, “I’m honoured to be here tonight, your Majesty, and I’m going to play some music for you.” And the Queen says, “I’m sorry, I can’t stay, it’s five to eight, and I have to go and watch Twin Peaks!”.’Liverpudlian music icon McCartney was one of the many celebritiesSharing a portrait of the Queen, he wrote on Twitter: ‘God bless Queen Elizabeth II May she rest in peace Long live The King.
Earlier this year, McCartney also opened up about meeting the Queen for the first time, calling her ‘a babe’.
