The Queen will touch on her family's 'bumpy' 2019 in her annual speech

The Queen will refer to her family's "bumpy" 2019 in her annual Christmas Day speech, it has been revealed.

Touching on her family's troubles in the annual message, which will see her speaking about the life of Jesus and the importance of reconciliation, The Queen will say "how small steps taken in faith and in hope can overcome long-held differences and deep-seated divisions to bring harmony and understanding.

It then emerged earlier this week that the family of three have been spending time in Canada, and will stay there for their first festive season together. Her son Prince Charles is also seen with his wife, Camilla, with another image showing her father, King George VI, sending a message of hope to the British public in 1944.

His end of the year didn't go too smoothly, either, with him being admitted to hospital due to a "pre-existing condition" just days before Christmas, although he was discharged on Christmas Eve.
