A spokesman for the King said the monarch’s main focus will be leading the Royal Family and nation in mourning over the coming days. The Dean of Westminster, Dr David Hoyle, said: “The church in which she was married and in which her coronation took place, the Abbey was witness to promises that defined the life of our faithful and devoted Queen.

On Monday 12 September, a procession attended by the King and members of the Royal Family will be formed at the forecourt of the Palace of Holyroodhouse, before the coffin is taken to St Giles’ Cathedral, Edinburgh.
