There's no better food with which to enjoy this seaside's town brilliant light spectacle
It’s one of the biggest days in the Fylde event calendar, the Blackpool Illuminations have officially been switched on and the following four months will see crowds come from far and wide to marvel at the spectacle.
Popular ones include Yorkshire Fisheries, Papa’s and Harry Ramsden which see lines out of the door when the illuminations are being switched on. Another popular one is the Big Fish Trading Company situated adjacent to the famous Coral Island arcade and opposite shops such as McDonalds and TK Maxx. Luckily for us, the chippy had no queue but people were visibly enjoying their food in the dining room. We went straight to the front and confidently ordered a small fish and chips without looking at the board, only to be told they only do one size.
Low and behold, it was a box with hot contents all topped with salt and vinegar. We were impressed with their efficiency on such a busy day in the calendar for the town, and the box was a nice touch, meaning families would be able to easily walk through the Illuminations with essentially a plate, rather than the much-less stable wrap of paper.
