More than 500 people have been charged since the disorder two weeks ago
In what should be a time of rest and recuperation during the summer holidays, the British criminal courts have been inundated with a tidal wave of rioters, looters and violent thugs.
In Greater Manchester disorder spread at a hotel believed to be housing asylum seekers in Newton Heath, as well as in Manchester city centre and Bolton town centre over the course of a weekend. Missiles were thrown, racist slurs were hurled, buildings were damaged and people were injured. Communities were left in fear.
He claimed he was ‘hit by something’ which struck him on the head and left him feeling ‘a bit dazed’. He had then ‘lost his temper, picked something up from the floor and flung it away". It was thrown towards police officers. Afterwards he walked away carrying an England flag. The boy's father said he had no idea his son was involved in the trouble and that if he had: "He would have been in as much trouble with me as if he is with you." District Judge Joanne Hirst asked the teenager: 'Tell me the importance of a cenotaph?' to which he replied "I don't know."
Thomas Ward, who exposed his genitals to police who were protecting a lone black man who was subject of a vicious group attack, claimed he was ‘lashing out’ after finding out his dad was sent home from hospital as there was ‘nothing more that could be done for him’.
