Following personal tributes to the late Prince from both the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex, the royals chose to share some touching off-duty photographs of Philip in his role as father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
The Prince of Wales began by posting an image of himself on the polo field with his father in 1966, as well as a shot of the Duke of Edinburgh attending the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Westminster Abbey in 2011. “Remembering the Duke of Edinburgh as a much-loved father and father-in-law,” Clarence House captioned the portraits on its social media accounts.The Cambridges followed suit, publishing an image taken of select members of the royal family at Balmoral in 2015.
While William clutches the hand of a toddler-aged Prince George, Kate holds a newborn Princess Charlotte in her arms, with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh beaming in the middle of the photograph.Perhaps the most touching shot came via Buckingham Palace, however. In a portrait taken by Kate at Balmoral, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh can be seen with seven of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
