The Shetland Islands are known far and wide for their stunning landscapes and diverse flora and fauna, but you may not be familiar with their honesty boxes.
As well as honesty boxes, you can also find special cake fridges on the islands. One of these even made headlines back in 2021, when it featured in an episode of the BBC One crime drama Shetland. The Original Cake Fridge is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is restocked every day with fresh baked goods. In 2019, the creators also opened a tearoom next to fridge where travellers can sit down for some coffee or soup.
