Dozens of homes, as well as several new industrial units, are being built on land between Darwen and Lower Darwen
The open land between the town of Darwen and its neighbouring village Lower Darwen was once a distinct swathe of greenbelt.
"I remember when Lower Darwen was an actual village," he said. "It was very distinct from Darwen, and Blackburn, but now it does feel like they're all merging into one." "My main concern with what is happening between Darwen and Lower Darwen is the impact on the roads," Cllr Connor said. "The A666 is always incredibly built-up and so people are using Lower Eccleshill Road as an alternative.
Councillor David Smith, who represents Darwen West and has been on the council since 1986 bar one year, said it was his understanding that those who live in Lower Darwen have always preferred to consider themselves as being part of Darwen rather than Blackburn.
