Mubi has revealed The Substance teaser trailer for Coraline Fargeat’s satirical body horror movie starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley.
The Substance is about a fading celebrity who decides to use a black-market drug, a cell-replicating substance that temporarily creates a younger, better version of herself.‘s Fitness TV show presenter delving into a dark world of experimental drugs that could save her career. But the trailer makes it clear there will be some unhinged consequences.
”Demi Moore gives a career-best performance as Elisabeth Sparkle, a former A-lister past her prime and suddenly fired from her fitness TV show by repellent studio head Harvey ,” reads the official synopsis. ”She is then drawn to the opportunity presented by a mysterious new drug: The Substance. All it takes is one injection and she is reborn – temporarily – as the gorgeous, twenty-something Sue . The only rule? Time needs to be split: exactly one week in one body, then one week in the other.
