Fashion Week in Copenhagen demonstrates the resurgence of the tie as a stylish accessory for both men and women. This trend, inspired by Saint Laurent's SS25 show, embraces the 'officecore' aesthetic, reflecting a return to traditional office attire. Vogue Scandinavia's editor Allyson Shiffman and others are embracing the tie, pairing it with everything from sweaters and jeans to evening gowns. The key is to add a personal touch – borrow a tie from someone you know and experiment with different styles.

Reports of the death of the tie have been greatly exaggerated, if the streets of Copenhagen are anything to go by. The accessory has been everywhere so far this fashion week, on men and women alike – a trend that can be traced back to Saint Laurent’s spring/summer 2025 show, where the likes of Bella Hadid took to the runway in power suits, buttoned-up shirts, and yes, an array of businesslike ties.

“I think it’s a play on officecore, maybe in a bit of a cheeky way – everyone’s back in the office post-Covid, and maybe feeling the fatigue of having to work in a corporate environment,” Shiffman continues. While some have been fully committing to the look in head-to-toe tailoring , adding a leather trench or bomber jacket offers a fresh take. Plus, it can work for day or night – my friend Sophia Li, who was also sporting one of her dad’s ties in Copenhagen, likes to wear hers at night, too.
