The Rhinos have confirmed the capture of both players on three-year contracts.
Leeds Rhinos have confirmed the signings of Brodie Croft and Andy Ackers from Salford Red Devils. The pair, two of Salford's standout performers, have signed on three-year contracts.
In confirming their arrivals, Leeds chief executive Gary Hetherington said: "It is our biggest investment in one go since we signed Iestyn Harris in 1997 when Iestyn came and made a significant difference to our squad." It's a statement that rings true given the size of the transfer fees included. Rugby League Live understands that Leeds have paid in the region of £300,000 to acquire both players. An agreement for former Man of Steel Croft is thought to have been found in the region of £200,000, while a deal for Ackers has cost the Rhinos around £100,000. This, of course, is before the considerable salaries both players have commanded since their moves. Croft has become one of the Rhinos' marquee players following his move to the club.
Hetherington added: “It has been a long and exhaustive search for new players for our squad in both Australia and New Zealand and here at home and we are delighted to have captured these two players. It represents a huge investment for us as a club and there is a lot for our fans to look forward to in 2024."
The pair are among a raft of new signings at Headingley next year. They will be joined by fullback Lachie Miller, halfback Matt Frawley and centre Paul Momirovski. Catalans prop Mickael Goudemand has also signed for the club next season while Castleford Tigers forward Kieran Hudson has yet to be announced.
