John Elliott is proud that his company produces the only washing machine made in Britain. But Ebac, in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, also ships water coolers and dehumidifiers to the EU. Over the past few months, chairman John has been busy preparing for the end of transition, to make sure Ebac can continue doing business with its neighbours and doesn’t go into spin after December 31.“We buy some parts from Italy, and our biggest market for water coolers is France,” John says.
You’ll need to ensure your staffs’ professional qualification are recognised by their professional body in the UK. You’ll have to make sure exports of certain products, including wine, eggs and beef, meet the requirements for export to the EU. There will also be changes to how you export goods from the UK.
If you travel to the EU for work purposes, you may need a visa or work permit, and to check you have the right documents to drive in the EU.Areas covered by the site include changes in processes and licensing needed to continue trading with the EU, and new duties and customs procedures. Financial director Graham Currie is in charge of making sure Ebac is fully prepared for the changes.
