From Beatles' concerts to bustling shops, Lincoln's Waterside Centre has seen it all! 🎵🛍️

The Waterside Shopping Centre in Lincoln has become a staple of the retail industry in the city centre since it was opened by Princess Diana three decades ago.

Currently, it is home to a number of major retail clothing giants – including Next, H&M and New Look – as well as other businesses varying from Superdrug and The Body Shop to Burger King and O2. It served as a cinema for a number of years before transforming its purpose and being renamed the ABC Cinema in 1961.It was during this time as the ABC Cinema where some of music’s finest names appeared in Lincoln for live shows through the 1960s, including The Beatles, Shirley Bassey, The Rolling Stones, and much more.

Along came investors in 1990, demolishing the Cannon cinema to make way for the Waterside Shopping Centre, which opened in March 1992.The official unveiling saw Princess Diana and the Prince of Wales – now King Charles III – come to Lincoln for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tour of the new shopping centre, which still stands proudly in the city to this day.
