Often compared to Burton Road in West Didsbury, the vibrant Salford suburb of Monton continues to attract visitors with its plethora of brunch spots, buzzing cocktail bars and independent shops
It’s one of Salford ’s most desirable places to live, and if you walk down its high street full of independent businesses, it’s clear to see why.

One of its major attractions, alongside its strong crop of independent businesses, restaurants and bars, is its location though.
The green was part of the Earl’s estate but in 1895 he agreed to make it an open space for public use. The church, built between 1973 and 1875 replaced the original Monton Chapel and even features an Institute of Physics blue plaque for physicist John Henry Poynting who discovered the Poynting vector and weighed the earth and was born in a cottage on Monton Road.
Back on the high street, it takes just 15 minutes to walk from one end to another - making it an ideal spot to explore at the weekends or during the school holidays - especially if you fancy a bite to eat, or mooch around the shops.
