The barely audible baby killer tells detectives: 'They told me there had been a lot more deaths and I’d been linked as someone who had been there for a lot of them'
Almost whispering, Lucy Letby is captured in a revealing clip of her police interview trying to suggest it was mere coincidence that she was the only member of staff present on each occasion during a series of unexplained collapses of babies.
She used various ways to harm the babies including injecting air into the bloodstream, injecting air into the stomach, overfeeding infants with milk, physical assaults and poisoning with insulin. Some of the children were subjected to repeated attempts to kill them.After her trial came to an end, Cheshire Police released footage of one of the interviews they conducted with Letby, originally from Hereford, after she had been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Letby is heard to say: "They that told me there had been a lot more deaths and I’d been linked as someone who had been there for a lot of them."Letby answers quietly: "Yes."Letby replies: "I think we’d all just noticed as a team in general, the nursing staff, that this was a rise compared to previous years."
