. “We feel humbled and so proud to see influential women wearing Paris Georgia,” Mitchell says. “From musicians like Solange to supermodels like Kendall Jenner and the New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern… they are all so diverse in their ages, bodies and backgrounds. To see them wearing Paris Georgia gives us confidence in our brand, to know we are designing clothes these women feel comfortable in.”One thing is evident: the designers’ personal journeys are the backbone of their brand.
These considerations are nothing new, since launching their brand in 2015, the designers have embedded sustainability into the fabric of their business practices. “We manufacture in New Zealand, and we know exactly who makes our clothes, and we have recently invested in eco-packaging solutions,” says Cherrie. “However, the current state of the world has left us feeling a sense of urgency that we must do more, and we want to ensure we’re a part of the movement towards change.
Moments like seeing Hailey Bieber dressed in their designs make all of this effort and determination worthwhile. “She was one of the first,” explains Mitchell. “She graced the cover of a magazine, sitting on a toilet, on the phone. It was definitely a big moment for us.” Which high-profile names do they long to dress next? Tilda Swinton and Rihanna, they say. Two powerful, career-driven women, then.
