The radio club that's helping the youth of Manchester find their voice thanks to the Co-op AD CoopsFortnight
These teenagers have plenty to say: and when they speak, we sit up and listen. In fact, their opinions, humour, hopes, concerns, music - and much more - are resonating with audiences in Manchester, the North West, and even globally.
And as part of Co-op Fortnight this year - an annual celebration of the power and success of co-operatives across the UK between Monday, June 19 to Sunday, July 2, 2023 - they're telling inspiring stories that show how co-ops are making a difference to people, to communities and the wider economy. “Every week, they have a place to go where something different is asked of them. They are asked to behave like young professionals but also given the freedom to exercise their right to expression - it’s a really good balance - and to me that’s game-changing.”
“There’s such a lot of responsibility: there’s radio law and you have to be prepared and do your research. They do all that and at the point of delivery, they deliver. It’s great.”“I can’t express strongly enough how useful radio training is and broadcasting is for everyone,” said Jane.
