Cleveland’s bullpen is 30-9 with a 2.47 ERA. It has made an appearance in everyone of the Guardians’ 107 games. The biggest worry about the bullpen is that it will burn out before it rusts out. Cleveland’s rotation ranks 26th in innings pitched -- dead last in the American League -- with 543 1/3 innings. The bullpen, with the Guardians sitting in first place in the AL Central by 6 1/2 games with 55 games left to play ranks 10th in innings pitched with 404 2/3 innings. Lefty Tim Herrin, the third rookie in the pen, is 4-0 with a 1.27 ERA in 49 games. He’s struck out 42 and walked 20 in 42 2/3 innings. The opposition is hitting .154 against him overall and .111 on the road. Sam Hentges and Eli Morgan have also contributed. Hentges is currently on the injured list with a strained left shoulder. Morgan was optioned to Class AAA Columbus.
Sandlin relieved to start the sixth. He struck out Austin Hays, allowed a single to Edmundo Sosa and struck out Brandon Marsh. Herrin relieved and won the left on left matchup against Garrett Stubbs to end the inning.
