Some parents can easily accept the advice of their adult children; others need to hear it from anyone else. I realize it’s frustrating to feel like you’re the last people they will listen to, particularly when you know you’re right—but sometimes that’s the way it is. If there is anyone you can enlist to help you advocate—relatives or close family friends, your mother-in-law’s doctor, a social worker, an elder/life care planner, etc.—that might also help.
