Ms Donets, who worked in communications for an online fashion magazine, was approached by a volunteer at Dattalion to join the project soon after the invasion in February. She said she was desperately searching for a way to help Ukraine after she escaped from the capital Kyiv to Vienna in Austria in early March, where she still remains.
“I was very upset, and still I am upset, that I cannot physically help soldiers to battle,” said Ms Lykova, who remains in Kyiv. She decided to join Dattalion, saying she spends all of her free time on what she described as a “truth project”.
