Shaun Freeman and Delroy Chin were convicted of conspiracy to kidnap
Two men accused of being part of a plot to kidnap and torture a victim have been found guilty. Shaun Freeman, 29, and Delroy Chin 47, went on trial at Manchester Crown Court. They have now been found guilty of conspiracy to kidnap.
Posing as plain clothes police officers, Daniel Lowe, Ben Ukaegbu and John Bishop 'arrested' the man before taking him to a lockup in Gorton. He was kept there for 12 hours and tortured. He had his testicles Tasered and his arms were singed with a blowtorch. Three men - Lowe, Ukaegbu and Bishop - got out of the car and approached him. He told jurors they looked like 'police'. "They arrested me for conspiracy, to do with class A drugs," he added.
The man said he knew Stretford didn't have a custody suite and that there was 'no such thing' as Clayton police station. "I became suspicious then," he added. Both denied an offence of conspiracy to kidnap, but were unanimously convicted after jurors deliberated for 36 hours and 29 minutes. Giving evidence, Freeman told jurors: "I would never do something like that." He said he was friends with Michael Etuhu at the time, and saw him 'daily'. Freeman said they met through Etuhu's brother Kelvin, a former Manchester City footballer.
