He then went back to the room and by the time Ms Roopnarine returned to join him he had left and locked the suite having run away with the watches which included a Rolex Yachtmaster that retails at £10,500 In a victim impact statement Ms Roopnarine said: 'I can recover from the financial loss, but I cannot recover from the emotional loss, as the gold jewellery was passed on to me from my ancestors, and that is something I can never get back.'The betrayal and violation of trust resulted in me feeling an overwhelming sense of heartbreak and sadness and a deep sense of personal betrayal.'
He then went back to the room and by the time Ms Roopnarine returned to join him he had left and locked the suite. Andrew Hill, defending, said: 'I don't accept that this was pre-planned, why would he know that she would be coming with jewellery?In a victim impact statement read at Southwark Crown Court Ms Roopnarine said: 'I can recover from the financial loss, but I cannot recover from the emotional loss, as the gold jewellery was passed on to me from my ancestors, and that is something I can never get...
