The bride found a vintage old Céline slip dress, which she wore with the classic Manolo Blahnik heels that were named for Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
Georgina Eklöf-Grey, a buyer at MyTheresa, favours ’90s minimalism when it comes to her everyday wardrobe, so it’s only fitting that Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy was the bride she pinned to her wedding moodboard. The Narciso Rodriguez ivory slip dress that Bessette wore to marry John F Kennedy Jr in 1996 introduced the world to a more modern take on bridalwear, and her look has been the blueprint for brides looking to eschew princess silhouettes ever since.
Georgina met Nils Rage, who is head of sustainability for the property developer Stanhope, on Hinge just before the pandemic in 2020, but the timing didn’t align and they didn’t speak through the various UK lockdowns. “My mother always said if it is meant to be then you will circle back to each other and it will happen when you least expect it,” Georgina remembers. The unexpected text did come, 15 months later.
The bride and groom had both enjoyed stints living in Copenhagen before they met, and felt their time in the city had played an important role in shaping who they both are now. So, they chose to make this place that was so crucial to their formative years a part of their love story. The couple, who live in a flat in London’s brutalist Barbican Centre, are self-confessed architecture geeks, so it also helped that there is no shortage of modernist backdrops in the Danish capital.
This house is documented in Danish architecture books because it ushered in a new style, with Jacobsen finding beauty in simplicity and clean lines – much like Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy did with her aforementioned wedding dress. “I spent a lot of time looking at her wedding look as inspiration and knew I wanted to take little bits from it, like the tulle gloves, a simple veil and her Lily of the Valley bouquet,” explains the bride.
Keep reading for all the details from Georgina Eklöf-Grey and Nils Rage’s modernist wedding in Copenhagen.“Having worked in fashion for all of my career, choosing an outfit was both the most fun and the hardest bit. My priorities were to look like myself, choose something timeless, and to be comfortable ”
