Few pitchers can replicate Clayton Kershaw’s arsenal of pitches. No one can really pitch like Kershaw, but many have siphoned small pieces of his mindset, preparation and intensity. ByMcCullough details:

After his big-league debut last May, Pepiot, the Dodgers rookie, tried to catch his breath inside the dugout. He had lasted only three innings and issued five walks. After a little while, Kershaw approached. They talked about the outing. Kershaw asked what pitch Pepiot used to reset himself when behind the count. The changeup, Pepiot replied.“Let’s find something else.”
Then Kershaw stood up and walked away. Later in the game, he returned and studied video with the rookie. “Just trying to see how my brain worked, and see what I thought,” Pepiot said. “I’m just like, ‘Wow. This is my major-league debut, and I’m sitting on the bench with Clayton Kershaw right now.'” Pepiot experienced the same awe Holmes and Taillon felt while listening to Kershaw expound on his routine in the Dominican Republic. They might never pitch like Kershaw. But they could reach their ceiling following his lead on the road back from surgery. “Especially at a time where we were basically building from the ground up,” Holmes said.
