Police officers want the Metropolitan Police to be broken up if it does not undergo drastic reform after the publication of Baroness Casey‘s report tomorrow AlannahFrancis1 reports

“This could help, but only under different leadership,” the officer said. “Breaking the Met into four separate forces with the same leadership would only exacerbate problems, creating four new insular cultures with the same people who caused the issues within the Met.”

“We brought in the IOPC to deal with public complaints; that was taken off the police’s hands. We now need to do the same thing for internal complaints from officers and staff,” he said. “There is just no justice. There is no outcome. People that are investigating tend to be compromised and influenced by senior leaders in policing who either protect those that’s on the right side of them or target those that aren’t in the clubs as such.

He called for changes to make it easier for police chiefs to take appropriate action against officers who are subject to serious misconduct accusations.
