Louis Vuitton’s Neo Speedy bag is enjoying a resurgence among the street-style set, while the Louis Vuitton denim Baggy is also proving to be popular. Vogue looks at why the vintage Louis Vuitton denim bags are having a moment.
Vintage bags have become the ultimate status symbol among the street-style set in recent years, from the Gucci Jackie to the Dior Saddle. Now though, a new favourite has been spotted on the pavements during fashion month: the Louis Vuitton Neo Speedy. First launched in 2005 under the helm of Marc Jacobs, the monogram denim style is an update on the classic Speedy bag, featuring two large pockets and zip detailing at the front.
“Ever since the release of this new collection, we have seen a huge spike in buy prices for these denim pieces,” Gabriel Rylka, founder of Break Archive, tells Vogue. “The re-issue of the denim monogram proves that denim bags are here to stay, so consumers are happy to invest into these lasting pieces.” It’s not just the Neo Speedy that’s making a return but also the Louis Vuitton Baggy, which features the same monogram denim and pocket detailing at the front, this time in a slouchier shape.
