4:54 pmJust under 220 sales consultant roles will go and a further 102 staff roles will be axed as Thomas Cook announced plans to 21 of its shops.Cook employs 3,800 staff across its branches in the UK. Bosses blamed the closures on the growth in online bookings.Staff in Shipley, West Yorkshire, Gosforth, Newcastle Upon Tyne, and Peterlee, County Durham, will all go as leases expire. Branches that are making a loss will also go.The travel industry has been hit by a weak pound and a hot summer.
