'As the clock continues to countdown towards Thursday, I pray that SNP leaders have a sudden epiphany and delay this scheme at the last minute' | CllrTKerr ✍️
I know many readers will feel as though this column is a bit of deja vu but as many know I have been warning about the deeply damaging impacts this policy is going to have for three years now.
As I’ve highlighted before, Unite the Union predicted that up to 1000 drivers will be lost from our city centre this week. That’s 1000 fewer drivers that will be able to get people home safely from a night out and a hammer blow to those hard-working cabbies’ livelihoods. Surely, common sense must prevail and Glasgow City Council could offer these vital charities an exemption to ensure they continue to do their life-saving work? Unfortunately, with the clock ticking, that isn’t looking likely and those charities will have to pay the price of politicians who prefer to act like they know best. We’ve seen this week the brutal news that Patons Accident Repair Centre, based in Townhead, could be forced to close its doors for good, along with other businesses around it.
It’s time the SNP grow a backbone and cut the extremist Greens adrift for the sake of common sense and economic prosperity.
