A new midfielder remains high on Leeds United manager Daniel Farke's agenda with just three weeks to go until the transfer market closes
Thomas Kessler, FC Koln's head of first-team football, is unconcerned by Leeds United's transfer interest in Dejan Ljubicic. The Whites are targeting a new midfielder before the transfer market closes on August 30 and have already seen a £3.3m bid rejected for Ljubicic in this window.
“I’m not afraid that Dejo will leave the club,” Kessler told KSTA.de. Ljubicic, primarily a defensive midfielder, featured in 26 Bundesliga games last term, weighing in with two assists. Kessler quipped: “We have even built an Austrian coaching team for him so that he will lack nothing here, so I firmly believe that he will remain our player.”
United, who kick off their Championship campaign at home to Portsmouth tomorrow afternoon, are a man down in midfield after seeing Archie Gray and Glen Kamara move on to pastures new. Loan recruit Joe Rothwell will be hoping to make his Elland Road bow this weekend.
