If all goes to plan, southeast Montgomery could see thousands of new homes.
showcases the city’s housing development plans for the area. There are more than 5,000 planned units and more than 3,000 potential units. Combined, it adds up to 8,351 units.
The biggest development that’s already planned is more than 2,700 units and stretches from Carr Middle School on Ray Thorington Road to just south of Park Crossing High School. “This doesn’t omit other parts of the city that we just referred to, whether it’s west Montgomery, as well as south Montgomery, and some plans for north Montgomery, but the boom right now is certainly happening in east and southeastern Montgomery,” Mayor Steven Reed said at a press conference last week.
Reed credits new businesses like Amazon and Meta, as well as an expansion of Montgomery’s Hyundai plant, for the demand in housing.
