Fans began arriving at the stadium in the early hours to say their final goodbyes at Pele’s former club Santos’ Vila Belmiro stadium “My office has shirts signed by Pele, a picture of him as a goalkeeper, also signed by him, DVDs, photos, a big collection of him.” Santos’ press office said some 5,000 journalists from all over the world had been accredited to cover the wake of the only man to win the World Cup three times as a player, who scored 643 goals for Santos in 659 competitive games.
