On May 14 around 10 am, Avon Lake High School received a phone call in which a male caller threatened harm to the school. The school was locked down and police conducted an interior and exterior premise check. It was determined that the treat was not credible. School resumed its normal class sessions.
Police presence was maintained throughout the remainder of the school day.A resident advised she paid a contractor a cash deposit for a job scheduled to begin on May 6. After scheduling the job, she researched the contractor online and decided to cancel. She asked for her deposit back, which he agreed to provide. The resident stated several days passed, and she did not receive her deposit.
