Three men arrested over possession of offensive weapons after the evacuation of Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow have been released without charge.

The bomb squad carried out a controlled explosion after reports of a suspicious package at 13:10 on Wednesday. However, nothing suspicious was found.The bus station reopened at 21:45 after a day of disruption to the city centre and public transport in and out of Glasgow.The bus station, which is Scotland's busiest, was evacuated and surrounding streets closed.Trains from Queen Street which run through a tunnel under Killermont Street and the bus station were also affected.

Supt Derrick Johnston said: "The initial report was treated as a credible threat and, as a precautionary measure and in accordance with procedures, the surrounding area was closed to the public and a cordon put in place. "The Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal team carried out a controlled explosion after an assessment was made of the impact to nearby gas mains and local train lines.
