Dr Rupy Aujla, who is an NHS GP, has said that eating a certain three foods every day can stop inflammation and improve your gut health - and they are all easy to find
Dr Rupy Aujla, a practising NHS GP in London and host of the Doctor's Kitchen podcast, has revealed the three foods he eats 'every day' to combat inflammation. Inflammation is usually a short-term immune response that helps protect the body from external threats like bacteria, toxins, and viruses.
However, when it becomes chronic, it can contribute to diseases such as dementia, heart disease, cancer, strokes, and diabetes. Dr Aujla emphasised the importance of good gut health in preventing these conditions. He said: "You need to eat more of these particular types of foods. One is fruits and vegetables. These are particularly anti-inflammatory and the ones that you want to focus your intentions around. You want to focus your diet around your plates around are Berries, leafy greens, dark yellow vegetables as well as cruciferous vegetables like broccoli. These are potently anti-inflammatory. I want to just underline Berries and dark green leafy vegetables.
Dr Aujla has highlighted the health benefits of certain foods, stating: "They've been shown in studies to improve your brain health. Improve your cardiovascular health. There is no reason why we shouldn't be consuming more Berries fresh if they're in season and frozen if you can't get them in season. Dark leafy greens are phenomenal, particularly from the Brasa vegetable family.
He also shared his daily diet for anti-inflammatory advantages: Berries, Leafy greens, and Dark yellow vegetables, noting their rich content in fibre, carotenoids, and other molecules aiding in reducing inflammation and boosting antioxidant defences. Dr Aujla's suggestions align with experts like Professor Tim Spector, who emphasise the importance of gut health for reducing inflammation, thereby potentially preventing conditions such as dementia, arthritis, and diabetes, reports Surrey Live.
