BREAKING: Three people have been charged after Just Stop Oil protests which left the courts of Wimbledon covered in jigsaw pieces and paper petals.
Deborah Wilde, 68, Simon Milner-Edwards, 66, and William Ward, 66, have been charged with aggravated trespass following the incidents on Wednesday.Wilde, Milner-Edwards and Ward have all been released on bail to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 7.
In the first of two incidents on Wednesday, a man and a woman ran on to Court 18 during a match and threw orange paper petals and jigsaw pieces.Three people were detained by security staff before being arrested by Metropolitan Police officers and taken into custody.Three people have been charged following the jigsaw-based disruptions
Australia’s Daria Saville and Britain’s Katie Boulter didn’t seem overly irked by the protest during their match, and got stuck in to help clear the debris. Both players came to the aid of ballboys and ballgirls, who together tidied each jigsaw piece and plastic petal into a bin bag.
