Three people have been taken to hospital – one with spinal injuries – after falling three metres through the window of a Gold Coast bar overnight, the Queensland Ambulance Service said on Sunday.
Paramedics and police arrived at the Broadbeach bar about 9.20pm on Saturday after reports that several people had fallen about three metres from a window after an alleged assault.
Police were initially told one person had fallen, but when they arrived, they found three injured people.A man in his 40s was in a serious condition with head, stomach and chest injuries. A woman in her 20s was in a stable condition with suspected spinal and chest injuries, while a man in his 20s was also in a stable condition with head injuries and cuts.
A 21-year-old man was charged with assaulting a police officer and obstructing police outside the Gold Coast Highway bar. “It will be alleged the 21-year-old Mermaid Waters man continued trying to enter a crime scene before assaulting an officer,” a QPS spokeswoman said.Police were initially told one person had fallen through the window, but when officers arrived, they found three people injured outside the bar.The 21-year-old, who was not one of the injured, will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on July 10. Investigations into the incident are continuing.
