Questions remain following Sunday's awful discovery
In the quiet village of St Michael's on Wyre, a community is in mourning. Yesterday , residents began removing missing posters from lampposts, gates and railings, as they try to process news everyone was dreading.
An extensive search was launched in the days after the mum's disappearance.. Internal and external search teams, divers and specialist equipment was used to carry out the search which police described as thorough. But it yielded no results for Nicola's worried family. Speaking at the force’s HQ, Assistant Chief Constable Peter Lawson did confirm the body had been identified as Ms Bulley – and described the investigation as “hugely complex and highly emotional”.Lancashire Constabulary spent more than three weeks combing through the river and river beds of the River Wyre but it was a dog walker who made the tragic discovery of Nicola's body.
It then carries alongside Great Eccleston, Larbreck, Little Singleton, up to Thornton Cleveleys and past Hambleton where it widens, before flowing out to sea at Fleetwood - around 13 miles from where Nicola was last seen. Nicola was found around a mile from the spot she was last seen at.
