Nottingham police officers arrested three teenagers on suspicion of possessing a knife and intent to supply Class A drugs after a chase through a residential area. The suspects were apprehended after a search revealed a hunting knife, approximately 70 wraps of suspected heroin, a zombie-style knife, burner phones, and weighing scales.
Officers conducting a routine patrol in St Ann's, Nottingham, on Thursday, February 6, observed suspicious activity on Botany Avenue around 3:35 p.m. Believing a drug deal was in progress, they approached three individuals. However, all three suspects fled the scene, prompting a short chase by the officers. The trio was eventually apprehended in a garden on Blundell Close. A thorough search of the area led to the discovery of a discarded rucksack in a neighboring garden.
This rucksack allegedly contained a hunting knife and approximately 70 wraps of suspected heroin. Furthermore, a zombie-style knife in its sheath was found outside a nearby property. Police also reported finding multiple burner-style phones and weighing scales. Three teenagers, aged 18, 18, and 19, were subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife and possessing with intent to supply Class A drugs. \Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould of Nottinghamshire Police commended the officers involved, stating, 'The officers involved in this triple arrest did a great job in firstly spotting something that didn’t look right and then acting on these suspicions. Their actions ultimately resulted in us being able to take two dangerous bladed weapons off the streets, while also seizing bags of Class A drugs as well. The knife crime team’s remit when they go out on their patrols is to target potential weapon carriers and take knives and drugs out of harm’s way, so this proved itself to be a very successful stop for them.
