A three-time gold medallist vying to be one of the greatest British athletes has pulled out of the Olympics over a video showing her allegedly repeatedly whip a horse.

A British Olympian has withdrawn from the Paris Games after a video emerged which she said"shows me making an error of judgement" on a horse during a coach session years ago.

"A video has emerged from four years ago which shows me making an error of judgement during a coaching session," she said in a statement on Tuesday . "I am deeply ashamed and should have set a better example in that moment," the British athlete continued, apologising for her actions and letting down supporters.
