UPDATE: A man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing three women Monday night in Medford.
A woman who saw the attack yelled for the man to stop, who then stabbed her at least three times, officers said. Her injuries are"more serious" and require surgery.
The alleged attacker, identified by police as Jace Cherchi, was eventually tracked down at South Station in Boston and arrested by MTBA Transit Police. He was handed over to Medford police, and has already had an arraignment Tuesday morning in Somerville District Court.The suspected stabber's uncle, Alfredo Vilar, identified the victims as the alleged attacker's mother and sister, along with a neighbor.
"My niece was in my house and she tried to help her mother with a shovel," Vilar said."So she runs out and Jace stabs his sister, so the sister got stabbed. Then there was a neighbor walking down the street who tried to intervene and she got stabbed."As of Tuesday morning, police had cleared the scene.
On Monday night, though, Medford police were seen blocking off a section of that road with police tape, as investigators focused their work on a home there with a red door. The investigation took place after 9 p.m.One of the neighbors said he heard screaming and a commotion outside, followed by police rushing to the scene.
"We all just kind of looked in to see what's up," Benjamin Javier said."We're a pretty tightknit neighborhood, so we all keep contact and everything, but eventually cops came on scene. They were flying like 60 miles per hour."
