Police have cordoned off a main road in Hindley after a three-year-old girl was hit by a van. The girl, who was with her mother at the time, has been taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.
Police have cordoned off a main road in Hindley this afternoon after a three-year-old girl was hit by a van. A cordon is in place on Market Street with a number of emergency services vehicles at the scene.
Pictures from the scene show police tape blocking the road, with traffic police and paramedics at the scene. The little girl, thought to be out with her mum at the time, was taken to hospital. A witness who passed the scene said the three-year-old girl was sitting on her mother's knee as she was being checked by paramedics.
The three-year-old, who was out with her mum at the time, is not thought to have sustained injuries that were life-threatening or life-changing.
