Expat Allan Young died after being attacked by Alex Willness during a street disturbance
A man has been found guilty of killing a Scottish police officer in Canada after hitting him on the head with a skateboard. in Nelson, British Columbia.
Judge Lindsay Lyster said: "He was shouting and threatening to kill someone. He moved onto the street faster than Young. There was nothing to indicate that he was afraid. He was looking for a fight. No one in Willness' position could have believed Young was a threat." Witnesses testified that after Willness left the scene, several members of the public chased him and held him down until the police arrived. Giving evidence, Willness said he had little recollection of the incident because he had been wandering the streets drinking vodka beforehand but claimed he thought Mr Young attacked him.
