Jamie Murphy has been jailed for two years and two months
A woman who was attacked in her own home by her new boyfriend said she feels unable to return to Preston following the attack.
The woman said he could have let himself in through the front door, as some residents would leave it unsecured. The couple spent the rest of the day drinking but in the early hours of the following morning they argued about Murphy taking drugs.Katy Appleton, prosecuting, said Murphy 'flipped out' and there was a scuffle between the pair. In the course of the row, Murphy punched the woman twice to the eye, twice to the ribs and headbutted her.
The following day the woman returned to her home at 4pm to find the front door had been left open and Murphy had let himself in. He started arguing with his partner, saying she was "a wrong 'un", and slapped her in the face. The woman ran out of the house and into a nearby shop, but Murphy followed her and threw her on the floor, saying she was showing him up.
Following the attack, Murphy's victim went straight to Preston railway station and boarded a train. In a victim statement she said she feels unable to return to the city because Murphy said he would track her down. She suffers anxiety and depression which have been made worse by the incidents in November 2020.
